Our founder Raindolf Owusu was selected as part of 20 diverse African health experts invited by the World Health Organization AFRO region to have an expert consultation meeting on scaling health innovation in Africa which was heald at the WHO AFRO headquarters in Republic of Congo, from the 30 July- 01 August, 2019. The purpose of the consultation meeting is to build a broader coalition that will work to support the stimulation and development of innovations necessary to implement and scale up health interventions related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa.
This meeting was the first of its kind sponsored by WHO AFRO and presents an incredible opportunity for strategic dialogue, collaboration and planning for health sector innovations and solutions for Africa.
The expected outcomes of the meeting were:
(i)Develop an roadmap that will clarify the role of Member States, WHO and private and public sector partners in supporting health innovations in the region,
(ii)Use the innovation pipeline generated from the WHO AFRO Innovation challenge as an example to map and align roles of the various stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem;
(iii)Provide input on the structure and content of an investment case for scaling health Innovations in Africa.
Participants to this event were drawn from WHO Member State governments, leaders in health innovation, donors, investors, innovation champions and other key partners from around the globe with a focus on the African continent.
